"Everyone who invites is happy when everyone comes and there’s a full house", senior citizen representative walter mackert buried the over 65s from around the city.
To the now 24. For the first time, the town of bad staffelstein had invited its elderly citizens to the adamriese hall, where they were entertained and shown various performances. With two bus lines serving more than 25 stops in all parts of the town and city, the organizers made sure that even those who are no longer so mobile could join in the celebrations.
Over coffee and baked goods, seniors enjoyed performances by alice goraus’ new ballet school. The girls thrilled the audience with lively rock ‘n’ roll and classical ballet. In the meantime, the organizers and many helpers made sure that the guests wanted for nothing. With coffee pots, city councilors went from table to table, bringing members of "group 60" to the table, the women’s association, the women’s union, the team of the TSV and many helpers of the town also served wine, beer and finally oven-fresh liver cheese on the tables. The motherhouse of fourteen saints was also represented by a large delegation, and father dominic spontaneously received a special round of applause at the funeral.
The guests listened attentively to the words of city pastor georg birkel and pastor sabine schmid-hagen. Mayor jurgen kohmann summarized his contemplative thoughts in a short poem, and walter mackert recalled a quote by franz kafka: "he who can rejoice in something new and retain the ability to recognize the already, will never grow old." He himself was now entitled to take part in this wednesday afternoon as a senior citizen and not only, as in the seven years before, as a senior citizen representative of the city.
The oldest guests were surprised with a bottle of champagne and a voucher for a thermal bath, one gentleman with 90 and two ladies with 93 years each. There was also a present for five special couples: they had all already been able to celebrate their diamond wedding anniversary. The two musicians from "mainfieber light" got things moving in the hall. Bernd and jurgen donath played songs to sing along to. Afterwards sr. Adelheid and sr. Christine with her ladies from the dance group, the senior dance is groovy. TSV ju-jutsu athletes performed and showed their skills under the direction of stefan lohneis. "No longer holding the senior afternoon due to a tight financial situation of the city? No! Our seniors are worth it!", mayor kohmann looks forward to a new edition next year.
